Abuelita (Grandmother) brought with her to Texas the Norteno style cooking she learned in her childhood on the Mexican Frontera. Her casita was always filled with the comforting aromas of Comida Mexicana--Mexican Food--which our family has enjoyed for generations.
This earthy, yet spirited food nourishes both body and soul. It is based on sauces slowly and lovingly created, using the ancient metate, molcajete and comal. But we no longer have time to create these sauces from scratch for daily use. So, for our own family--and for others--we have captured the magic of Abuelita Villarreal's Comida Mexicana® in these versatile sauces.
